On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, Mark DiVenere, president of India Metal Parts, Inc., was recognized by the Bristol Boys & Girls Club as a key long-term supporter and for all of his volunteer services to the club.

“I am a proud supporter of the Bristol Boys & Girls Club, I have been involved since I was seven-years-old. I was named Boy of the Year in 1981 and my father was named Boy of the Year in 1961. We are the only father-son duo to have won. I was very fortunate to have many great memories at the club and now it’s my turn to give back. For me, it is all about giving back to the kids and making sure they have a safe environment.”

Mark DiVenere has been a longtime financial supporter of the club. He is an active member on the board and also a former president of the club. Three generations of Mark’s family have been apart of the Bristol Boys & Girls Club and as Mark mentioned in his speech, “We all grew up in the Boys & Girls Club family, it’s a part of us.”

Mark also spoke about how beneficial the club continues to be for Bristol’s youth, “You want to expose kids to opportunities through life skills. You can make something of yourself, you’ve just got to work.”

The Boys and Girls Club of Bristol started in 1907, when Jennie Peck, a well-known community leader, saw the town’s youth needed a place that would allow them to grow and become productive members of society. Together with a couple of her close friends, she helped develop the beginning of the Boys and Girls Club of Bristol. The goal was to have a place where boys could be physically active, make lasting friendships and learn to be responsible. Today, the Boys & Girls Club’s mission is “to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.”
